This morning we returned to the Ho Chi Minh Communist party campaign museum.
No cameras or photography allowed, so i was a bit reserved taking these snaps.
I took out the DSLR today so it was even harder being inconspicuous with a big camera.
After that we crossed the road to the Vietnamese History museum.
Admission was 15,000d / A$0.70 but it was an extra 32,000d to take photos.
After all that i needed a drink.
We had lunch at a nearby restaurant which name translates as Delicious
A place where all the street foods of Vietnam can be eaten under the one roof.
Set in a French colonial style villa with open plan seating, a restaurant very popular tourists and locals alike.
After lunch we went shopping again at the Vincom center.
Cat discovered the MAC makeup consultants lack the training the consultants have back home.
Scarred by our choice of the Renaissance breakfast buffet, we did some googling about dinner buffets at major hotels.
We were drawn in by the flash presentation found on the Majestic hotel’s website www.majesticsaigon.com.vn
The hotel from the outside looks pretty regal and very nice when lit up at night time.
We entered the hotel through a line-up of young pretty girls dressed in Ao Dai’s (sorry guys i was too chicken to take pics – so much regret now).
Up we go in the lift towards the level 5 restaurant.
We get to the buffet level and our jaws drop.
What a load of sh*t … what a misrepresentation on the website.
What we saw was a buffet which belonged on a ghost ship.
In our dismay we were intrigued to see what the rest of the hotel was like so we pressed level 1 to the Bar.
When the lift doors opened our jaws dropped a second time.
Out we stepped, into the corridor lined with old smelly carpet and walls dimly lit with hazy blue tinged neon lights.
Cat described it best as if it were a scene from a horror movie.‘when the elevator doors open, blood should come trickling out with organ music playing’.
On exiting the gate of girls once again we discovered there was a Casino !?! wow! but we didn’t take no chances going to this one.
Back to familiarity we went to the Saigon Cafe of the Sheraton hotel.
(We were seated in a dimmly lit area so i had to take photos whilst walking back to the table).
The food was good but our Buffet threshold was diminishing.
After dinner we find the Sheraton’s Casino called the Palazzo club.
We were refused entry.
It’s against the law for residents to gamble, entry is only permitted for overseas patrons with passports.
I know where we were going tomorrow night !!!
After dinner we retreat to the hotel before the 10pm curfew.
